Post-exam excitement
It's great to have summer break and time for all the important and not so important things that I was neglecting during the last couple of weeks. And of course I'm not locked in my room studying anymore, but can enjoy the beauty of Bern and have some fun. Although my regained freedom is only two days old I would like to share two "experiences" with you.
On Friday evening I went to the movies, although the weather was unusually nice. My friend and I decided to see "Shrek the third" and we were looking forward to another entertaining episode in the life of the green oger. Unfortunately the critics were right, the movie was okay, but not more. It could not live up to my expectations and to the previous editions. There are some fun scenes, such as when Pinocchio desperately tries to avoid lying, but also pretty lame scenes. But if you liked Shrek 1 and 2, you should definitely see the third episode as well. It's still an entertaining movie and guarantees a fun evening! My favourite character this time is the cookie, the scene where his life is passing by is just hilarious and veeery cute!
Yesterday evening my parents and I went to eat out. We wanted to pre-celebrate my birthday as they're leaving for two weeks of holidays today. Since I'm totally into Asia we went to "Yu" which is a "modern chinese restaurant" as they advertise it. It's located in the Kursaal complex and has a beautiful terrace with stunning views over Bern's old town to the Alps. It's probably the nicest view you get in Bern, so it's the perfect place to bring tourists. The food is a rather modern interpretation of Chinese food (although there isn't actually such a thing as Chinese food, cause every province has its own cuisine), but very delicious. Unfortunately the stylish place is a "gourmet"-restaurant, so it's nothing for regular visits, especially as a student. It's something for special occasions or just if you feel like escaping daily life and spending some hours enjoying good food! :-)
